Homemade Gatorade Recipe


Time: 5 minutes

Servings: 4 glasses

1 litre of base liquid:

  • Plain water

  • Coconut water - contains potassium and is a natural source of sodium

  • Steeped herbal tea

ADD:

  • ⅛ - ¼ tsp Salt, to add sodium and other minerals lost during exercise

  • ¼ cup of Lemon or any citrus juice, citrus fruits contain the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to help the muscles stay strong and repair themselves after a hard workout

  • Any natural flavours: fresh ginger, mint, basil, or berries

  • 1 tbls Honey or  ¼ Stevia because that shit is sweet!

Instructions:

  • Brew tea if using, or use slightly warm base liquid.

  • Add salt , stir till dissolved.

  • Add juice, natural flavors, and sweetener and mix or shake well.

  • Cool in the refrigerator until ready to drink.

  • Will last up to four days in refrigerator

Notes

  1. You can add 1 tsp of Calcium or Magnesium – Calcium helps build strong bones, and also helps muscles relax and move. A deficiency in calcium can result in a painful tightening of the muscles. Magnesium also helps the muscles to relax post-workout, which counteracts the role that calcium plays in contracting the muscles. A lack of magnesium can result in the feeling of sore muscles.

  2. Add 1 - 2 oz of Vodka or Gin to turn your drink into a nutrient packed cocktail! May require additional sweetener.
