Where should I park?
We know parking downtown can be tricky. If you can’t snag street parking, you can park at the View Street parkade (743 View Street) or the Yates Street parkade (575 Yates Street). Bonus: At both parkades, your first hour of parking is free on the main level; because our classes run for 50 minutes, you're only looking at about $0.50 to park per class.
When does class booking open?
Everyday at 12:30pm class booking opens for the following week. For example today (Tuesday) at 12:30pm, opens booking for the next week Tuesday’s classes.
How does the waitlist work?
When classes are full, you have the option to hop on the waitlist. We ask that if you are signed up on the waitlist, you act as if you are coming to class. We know life happens and things move quickly so it’s important to keep an eye on your email to see if you get in to the class. There is no penalty to remove yourself from the waitlist! Our system will automatically bump people in off the waitlist up to 30 minutes before the scheduled class. Classes can drop substantially overnight and we ask that you either take yourself off the waitlist before going to sleep or set that early alarm!
Do punch passes expire?
Annex punch passes never expire! However, the system will automatically expire them if they haven’t been used in within 365 days. To correct this, please email leaders@annexvictoria.com and we will help you out.
How early do I need to arrive for my first class?
Humble ask: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your class starts, so you don’t feel rushed to to sign in, meet our team, tour the facilities, and get ready to sweat!
Do you have lockers/towels/showers?
Yes, yes and yes! We’ve got keyless lockers in the lounge, male and female change rooms for you to stash your stuff, plus towels if you forget yours. You can even purchase shower towel service for a year, month or just once! Our showers are decked out with hair and body products that are sourced naturally and made locally by Tofino Soap Co., and if you’re off to work or out on the town after class? We’ve got you covered with hair products and tools.
What do I wear on my feet?
If you aren’t asking this question, you should—because each class at Annex requires different shoes!
Spin: Just wear socks—we've got you covered with clip-in cycling shoes in your size (and cleaned after every wear).
Strength: Whatever you would wear to the gym, you’ll wear for strength—runners or cross-trainers are perfect.
Barre: You can go barefoot, but we recommend barre socks for extra grip.
Yoga: Barefoot is best for our yoga classes.
Soma: You have the option to go barefoot or to wear light running shoes. There is a bit of jumping in class and some people prefer the extra support.
What are the best classes for me?
At Annex, personalizing fitness to your body and your goals is our M.O.. We understand that knowing which classes to take (and how often to take them) can be overwhelming—and we aren’t going to pressure you into anything that’s not right for you. In fact, we’re proud to offer complimentary Goals Orientation—a 15-minute meeting to discuss your goals and how Annex can best meet them. Just email us to schedule your orientation.
What should I expect at my first Annex class?
Your first Annex spin class:
Our spin studio is home to 33 bikes. We move as one to the beat of the music for 50 minutes. Your first Annex spin class will include high energy, lots of sweat and—we hope—a few smiles along the way. Never been to a spin class before? Worried about keeping up? Don't stress: If you're moving your legs, you're doing it right.
Your first Annex strength class:
Our strength class is a 50-minute circuit that hits every muscle in the body—phew! With a new workout designed each day, you'll never have the same workout twice. Expect a fast-paced, fun class that leaves you feeling it from head to toe. New to strength? Don't worry: We have modifications to meet every body where it’s at.
Your first Annex barre class:
Our barre class is an athletic take on the traditional ballet classes you may have taken as a kid. You’ll use small hand weights, TheraBands and your own body weight to give you a head-to-toe, 50-minute workout that burns fat and lengthens muscles. Never done a barre class before? This low-weight, high-rep class will make you sweat in ways you haven’t before—get ready to feel the burn!
Your first Annex yoga class:
Yoga at Annex is a calm 50 minutes in your day with a mixture of flow and restorative postures. Come and stretch out the day and leave feeling more limber and probably a little happier too!
Your first Annex SOMA class:
SOMA is a 45 minute, mostly body-weight class that blends high heart rate movements with slower sustainable moments to leave you feeling grounded and at peace in your body. This discipline is a shift away from hustle culture or always choosing the “hardest” workout. While there are certainly challenging moments throughout class, the aim is to slow down, take up space and just move in a way that feels good. No need to bring anything except some water- we have you covered!
Can I leave class five minutes early/skip the cool-down?
No can do, friends. The Annex cool-down is essential to your health and safety, which is why we require all Annexers to stay until the cool-down is done. We know you’ve got places to be (we do too!), but we don’t have time not to stretch; stretching prevents injuries, so think of it as saving yourself time off—and not the good kind. It’s only 5 minutes, right?!
How old do I have to be to sweat at Annex?
16 years old (or 112 in dog years!)
